What was once the Weavers Opencast Mine is now Lake Puketrini, a pristine lake for sailing, boating, and swimming. The lake provides tracks for walking, cross country, off road running and mountain biking, along with rest points and viewing spots with glimpses of the lake. 
There is also a boat ramp and two jetties for boating and sailing.
There is also a large diving platform for deep diving training.

The walking track around Lake Puketrini will take you 1.15 hours at a steady pace. Lake Puketrini is located 400 metres to the west of the Tainui Bridge on Rotowaro Road.
